At St Columba’s we have always believed that everything we do emanates from worship.
Sunday worship is the one time in the week when the entire community gathers for worship. We sing together, pray together, cry together, rejoice together and give thanks to God for so much. We also mark all of the major Christian festivals with special services of worship, including Holy Week and especially Tenebrae leading up to Good Friday, Easter Services, an Ascension Day Service (with a breakfast), and Christmas Services. None of these services happens by chance; the Worship Committee does an incredible job to ensure that worship runs as smoothly as it does.

Door Duty Elders. Women and men just like you and me who wake up earlier than usual on a Sunday to ensure that the Church is ready for worship. These people assist the Ministers with anything that may be needed. However, most importantly they are there to greet the congregation with a smile and, on occasions with unusually large services, to assist people with seating.
Preparation for Communion / washing of silverware. Once a month, on the Friday preceding Communion, a group of people simply begin to arrive at the Church. They go directly to the kitchen to wash and clean the Communion cups and trays, ensuring that everything needed for the service is spick and span. Other groups arrive before the services on Communion Sunday to prepare the elements. They ensure that each little glass is filled, the bread is cut, and that the chalices and the patens for holding the bread are all correctly placed on the Communion Table.
