Church, Dalziel House and the Garden of Remembrance. Our church gardens are the envy of Parkview – and beyond. On any given day, you can come to the Church, sit quietly in the garden in front of the Church or go around into the peaceful Garden of Remembrance and be inspired. Rosemary Killian and Collet Vundla are two very talented people who put so much of themselves into our gardens.

Human Resources. St Columba’s is fortunate to be a multi-staffed church. We have two people in the ‘front office’: Ann Klemptner is the PA to the Ministers; Pauline Shelver, although only paid for a half day’s job, does so much she may well be here all day, every day. Pauline Shelver ensures that all of our electronic communication is kept up to date. She has revamped the database and helped set up a communication system that helps us overcome the perils of the Post Office. Andy White is the full time financial administrator. We have two full time caretakers in Spine Sibanda and Tabuda (Thabo) Mafungdwana, having just taken leave of Philemon Ramudzuli. All of this happens under the watchful eye of Hermina Paton who is our Human Resource expert.
Finance. The finances of this congregation are very well looked after with an entire team of dedicated people making sure that our books always balance, our expenditure does not exceed our income, and that our investments are well managed. The day-to-day running of the St Columba’s finances are in the very capable hands of Andy White – a highly talented, multi-skilled person who is passionate about his job and the people he encounters on a daily basis while doing his job.

BOARD OF MANAGEMENT
More commonly known as the Board, this is chaired by Graham Hamilton. This committee of the Session reports to the Executive. The function of the Board is to look after the ‘fabric and finance of the Church.’

THE RESOURCES OF THE CHURCH
Property. St Columba’s is fortunate to have some really good real estate in Parkview. We are blessed with a beautiful sanctuary for worship, often commented on (which is always lovely). We have two halls (one with a stage), some classrooms and a fully furnished administration suite. We are fortunate to own the house next door to the Church. This houses the Counselling Centre, Penny Shaddock’s rooms for sorting and storing clothes and other useful donations. The house next door also provides a meeting place for Dorcas and the Women’s Fellowship: it is well used! Through the St Columba’s Trust, we also own the house at 8 Athlone Road, Parkview. Elna Blom, our property Elder, ensures that all of these properties are well maintained. We also have accommodation for our two full time caretakers who are a vital cog in the day-to-day running of St Columba’s.
